(Hons/Hons with Research) Physics and PhD in Physics programs designed to nurture a deep understanding of the fundamental principles that govern our universe—from quantum mechanics to cosmological phenomena. Our department hosts active research groups in frontier areas such as Condensed Matter Physics, Materials Science, Nano-Materials, Thin Films, Spintronics, Superconductivity, Multiferroics, Photovoltaics, Non-linear Dynamics, High Energy Physics, Astrophysics, and Detector Technology. Summer Internship Program

The Department of Physics is launching a summer internship program to engage promising undergraduate and postgraduate scholars and researchers from esteemed academic institutions. This initiative in Physics aims to foster interaction between these young talents and the department's faculty and scientists on campus. The program's objectives are:

  • To facilitate a mutually beneficial learning experience by connecting young academic talent with the faculty of the Department of Physics, UIS.
  • To offer interns insights into the institute's operational framework and strengthen their capacity to translate theoretical knowledge into practical application, thereby assisting them in their career trajectory.

Fellowship:

  • This programme is for candidates from outside Chandigarh University
  • Eligibility: 2nd year onwards at UG level

Chandigarh University (CU) has established a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Christian Brothers University (CBU) in the USA, facilitating academic collaborations that enhance global exposure for students. Under this partnership, CU offers articulation programs allowing students to pursue master's degrees at CBU. Specifically, students enrolled in certain postgraduate courses at CU can transfer credits towards the B.Sc. (Hons./Hons. with research) Physics and M.Sc. Physics degrees at Christian Brothers University. These articulation programs offer several benefits. Students can save on tuition fees by completing a portion of their studies at CU before transferring to CBU.
